Jimmy made the Burlington area his home after graduating from the University of Vermont. He began designing and building timber framed homes in 1980 while starting a family with his wife, Carol. 15 houses, two sons and a year designing and building a house in Alaska later, he turned in the toolbelt to concentrate more on design. As the focus changed to conventionally framed homes he contracting the on-site carpentry to a regular crew of craftsmen and spent more time at his drafting table along with his woodshop building some of the custom kitchens and built-ins in the portfolio. Now with more than 50 new homes to his credit, he continues to get excited about the endless possibilities of a blank sheet of paper and a pencil. Or more recently, a blank screen and a CAD program.
